Newest additions: Frantisek Vizner and Pavel Pánek Vases

Just added three new Czech glass vases to the shop. I love them all but, well, they are for sale now... so hush if you like these because they likely will sell pretty fast. 

I listed two stunning jardiniere style vases in heavy glass designed by Frantisek Vizner to Libochovice Glassworks in the 1960's and both showing strong optical style characteristic of Vizner works. The third is a small vase designed by Pavel Pánek for Rosice Glassworks in 1974 with pattern 3516. This Pavel's glass vase has the same vibes of his other boob vases and bowls.

Decorated Figgjo Flint Soup Tureen

This soup tureen was produced by Norwegian manufacturer Figgjo Flint some time in the years of 1960s and is simply one of the most adorable designs they have ever made. I call this a design "mother-in-law classic", because I used to see one at the home of my in-laws. It is folky, naive, romantic and patriotic at the same time.

It is decorated with images of a couple dressed up in traditional party clothes. Norwegians love their traditional dresses and are very proud of them and every little county in this country has a different design. One more beautiful than the other. And this lovely piece soup tureen shows a little bit of their pride and sense of place.

The most curious thing about this decor is that, this scene on the tureen could represent an image of the year 1920, as much as it could represents an image of Norway in the 2016. Norwegians make a huge effort to keep the traditional institutions running strong and since this small Scandinavian nation became an independent one, the can not stop themselves from being proud of who they are,  this is what ultimately make Norwegians, Norwegians. Those dresses and suits are part of the package, they will not abandon them, actually, they made them more fancy most design clothes, meaning, those dresses can cost a fortune, as much, or more than a famous design creation.

How lovely are the Norwegians?

This tureen is as lovely as all Figgjo Flint pieces and is in excellent vintage condition, but it has a downside, it has lost its lid. Yes. It is a lidless tureen which now can be used to serve other delicious things like popcorn, pomme frites (chips or crips), biscuits, cold soups like gaspazcho or serve as a planter or plant pot.

It is to be loved in whatever condition it is...

Vintage Tea tins, Coffee Cans, Biscuit tins, Cookies Jars...

Vintage and antique tea caddies and coffee or candy cans are a must. People seem to love them everywhere. They are a magnet in the vintage & antiques market places. All sorts of people love cans and everyone has a different reason for it. Mostly, I would guess, because they are beautiful, especially when they bear on their metallic skin the marks of time, when they exhibit the signs of history. The beauty of vintage is they way it turns old pieces of mass produced utensils into precious collectors items. And the more signs of use those boxes show, the better. Old is beautiful.

We have some of beautiful old tins and cans in our store right now. I love the red octogonal English tea with tribal design. It is really pretty and a little bit stained from time and dust.

Store Update

I have updated the store today and here you can see some of the items that are available to the public. The good news is: I have uploaded a new shipping prices which will make the purchases a lot cheaper. The down side of the lower prices is: (1) Only valid for packages up to 2kg (2) it does not offer tracking system. However, if you wish to make a purchase and prefer to track your order all the way, from our home to yours, it is also available. I have inverted the situation. Now, instead of contacting the owner in case of wishing a cheaper untracked shipping, you have to contact the store owner in case you wish a more expensive tracked shipping.
